Our Team
Editorial Team — Who Reviews RecoverFunds.ca
Every company entry in this registry is checked against the regulator's original notice by a named reviewer before it goes live. The reviewer's name and the date of the most recent review appear on each page.
This exists so that a reader can see that a person stands behind the page, and so that there is somebody accountable when something is wrong.
What a review actually involves
A reviewer works through the same checks on every entry:
- The warning exists on the issuing regulator's own site, at the link the page cites
- The regulator's quoted wording matches the notice exactly, transcribed rather than paraphrased
- The issuing body and the publication date are correct
- The company named is the company described, matched on domain and corporate name
- Registration status has been checked against the national registration search
- Where the case is a clone of a legitimate firm, the page says so unmistakably
- The page makes no promise or implication of recovery
- The upfront-fee recovery-scam warning is present
An entry that fails any of these does not publish.
The reviewers
Thomas Becker — Reviewer. Thomas reviews registry entries against source notices and tracks operations that resurface under new names and domains after an initial warning.
William Galipeau — Reviewer. William reviews registry entries against source notices, with particular attention to Quebec and multi-jurisdiction cases where several regulators have acted on the same operation.
Joseph Boucher — Reviewer. Joseph reviews registry entries against source notices and works through incoming case reports, which are the main source of information on how a flagged platform is behaving after its warning was published.
Reviews are carried out daily as new regulator alerts are published and as case reports come in.
