Report Investment Fraud — Free Case Review

Tell us what happened and we will review your case free of charge. We will tell you honestly what is realistically recoverable based on how you paid and how long ago, and which regulator to file with for your province. There is no upfront fee. Never pay anyone who asks for money in advance to recover your funds, that is a second scam.

How to recover crypto from a scam in Canada

There is no single button that reverses a crypto scam, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What there is, is a sequence — and the order matters far more than most people realise, because the steps that can actually return money are the ones that expire fastest.

Move on the payment route first, the same day

Whether anything comes back depends far more on how you paid than on who you report to.

  • Credit or debit card — ask your issuer for a chargeback and use the phrase "goods or services not received". Card networks generally allow 120 days from the transaction. This is the most recoverable route there is.
  • Bank wire or e-transfer — call your bank's fraud department, not your branch, and ask them to attempt a recall. A wire can sometimes be pulled back if the receiving account has not been emptied.
  • Crypto bought through a Canadian exchange — report it to the exchange with the destination wallet address. Canadian exchanges are regulated money services businesses; they can flag an address and file a suspicious transaction report, and a flagged address is what makes a freeze possible if the funds later land somewhere cooperative.

Then report it, in three places

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre on 1-888-495-8501, the securities regulator for the province you live in, and your local police for a file number. They do different jobs and none replaces the others. The full process, with the contact details for every province, is here.

What scam recovery realistically looks like

We will not tell you your money is recoverable in order to get you to fill in a form.

Confirmed blockchain transfers cannot be reversed — not by us, not by a regulator, not by any private company. Where money does come back, it comes back through payment reversal, through an exchange freezing funds that have not yet moved, or occasionally through enforcement action years later. Regulators can warn, ban and prosecute, but they are not a compensation fund.

That honesty is the point. Anyone who contacts you promising to recover your funds for an upfront fee is running a second scam, and they work from lists of people already known to have lost money and already known to pay. No legitimate organisation asks for your wallet recovery phrase or private keys. RecoverFunds.ca never will.

What a free case review actually gives you

  • Which regulator has jurisdiction for your province, and what they will want from you
  • Which of your payment routes are still reversible, based on how and when you paid
  • What to preserve now, before an account is closed or a site disappears
  • A straight answer about what is realistically recoverable, including when the answer is very little
